Modera at the Alameda

Project Background

Modera at Alameda is a 168 unit, multi-family mid-rise for rent apartment community, with commercial units on the ground and second floors, and underground parking.  One of the main challenges in this project was street access.  With access limited to one street, the Alameda,parking, commercial, and residential areas had to converge on one street frontage.  Safe and secure access was achieved by separating vehicular and pedestrian areas with vertical circulation, and heavy materials such as brick.

Project Role

As Project Manager and part of a large team from the LA office, my focus on his project was to work with the senior project manager to lead the project team in the transition from schematic design to design development, ensuring that the design intent was maintained throughout the documentation process.  The design was in flux even through CD’s, so thorough investigation of the effects of these changes was part of my charge on the project team.  Code and building materials research, coordination with project team members and engineering disciplines rounded out the technical aspects of my project focus.
